Which Hairstyles for Your Prom Should You Wear

Now is the time for girls across America to start perfecting their look for the prom. In many cases they will spend months not only on choosing the right dress but perfecting the right hairstyles and make up to go with their outfit as well.

If you aren’t sure about how you are going to wear your hair this coming year for your prom we take a look at few styles you may want to consider. Of course which style you choose depends on how long your hair is and what shape face you have.

Vintage

This type of hairstyle is one that many girls have relied on in the past, as not only does it look very glamorous but also classy. The style you want is similar to that worn by Flapper girls in the 1920’s namely a short bob or lots of pinned waves. However if you want to feel extra glamorous and your hair is long then opt for lots of giant glossy curls, as was the norm for Hollywood starlets at this time.

Braids

This style isn’t only for little girls and is certainly going to be proving extremely popular this year. Braids help to add some fun to your look whilst still helping you to look classy. There are number of different styles of braids you can opt for. You can either go for the braid that is swept to the side and where a few tendrils of hair are misplaced or you can go for much daintier small braids that frame your face whilst the rest of your hair is full and natural. If you really want to make a statement then opt for a braid that completely encircles your head.

Knots

This may sound like a style that is completely opposite to what you want but is another one of the hairstyles that you are going to be seeing a lot of in 2012 worn by girls to their proms. Again like braids there are many different styles of knots to select from. You could go for the style that is commonly referred to the ballerina bun where the knot is situated at the back of your head or high up on top of it. Otherwise you can go for a knot that is situated at the base of your neck and then over to the right or left side.

However, if you really want to make a statement then having two knots with one placed on either side of your head should be considered. If you want to make your knots look a little more glamorous allow a few tendrils of hair to fall free from it and add some accessories such as a bow or clips to it.

Above we have looked at some of the different hairstyles you may want to consider wearing to your prom this year. However it would be a good idea to try a few different styles out making sure the one you choose not only complements your dress but suits the kind of make up you want to wear as well.
